How to set up shipping rules
How to Set Up Shipping Rules
Shipping rules let Juicy calculate the correct shipping cost for every carrier you use, based on the Shipping Title, Country, and Shipping Code of each order. This guide uses three common carriers as examples: UPS Ground, FedEx Ground, and Royal Mail Tracked 48.
1. Open Shipping Cost
Go to Settings → Finances → Shipping Cost.
2. Understand the page
Before building anything, here's what each part of this page means:
Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
Default (fallback) | Used for any order that doesn't match any of your other rules. |
Rulesets (first match wins) | Checked one at a time, from top to bottom. As soon as one fully matches, Juicy stops and uses that one. |
Rules (all must match) | Conditions inside a ruleset. Every condition has to be true for the ruleset to match. |
3. Check the Preview first
Before creating any rules, look at the Preview table on the right. It lists every shipping method found in your actual orders, their Shipping Code, Shipping Title, and Country. Anything without a matching rule shows up in red as "No match."
4. Create your first ruleset
Click Add ruleset. One ruleset should always represent one shipping method. Name it something clear, like UPS Ground (US).
5. Match the shipping title
Add a rule:
Shipping Title → Contains → UPS Ground
6. Narrow it down by country
Add a second rule to the same ruleset:
Country → Equals → US
Both rules now have to match at the same time.
7. Set the shipping cost
Choose how Juicy should calculate the cost for this ruleset:
Option | What it does |
|---|---|
None | No shipping cost is calculated. |
Flat | A fixed shipping cost per order. |
Actual | The actual shipping cost charged to the customer. |
Quantity | Based on the number of units in the order. |
Weight | Based on the weight of the package. |
For this example, we'll use Flat.
8. Confirm it in the Preview
Confirm the Preview table. The UPS-GROUND row should now be green and display your ruleset name instead of "No match."
9. Repeat for your other carriers
Follow steps 4 to 8 again for FedEx Ground (US) and Royal Mail Tracked 48 (GB).
10. Order matters, first match wins
⚠️ Important: Juicy checks rulesets from top to bottom. If a shipping line matches more than one ruleset, the first matching ruleset is used. Avoid overlapping rulesets, and use the up and down arrows to reorder them if needed.
11. Save
Once every row in the Preview looks correct, click Save.
12. Update costs later without losing your history
Shipping costs change over time. Instead of editing an existing ruleset (which would also change your historical numbers), click Add Entry in the top right, pick the date your new costs start, and rebuild your rulesets there. Juicy automatically uses the entry whose date range covers each order.
